Career and Placement

SBS College of Pharmacy, Mehal Kalan, Barnala has an independent training and placement cell devoted to the needs of organizations in conducting campus interviews for placements.


  • To organize campus interviews for pre-final and final year students with industry from all over India.
  • To arrange seminars on latest topics especially for the students by experts under 'INDUSTRY-INSTITUTE-INTERACTIVE PROGRAM'.
  • To promote career counseling by organizing guidance lecturers by senior corporate personnel.
  • To prepare students for the competitive exams like GATE, GRE.
  • Arranging interviews for the students is the core business of Training and Placement cell.

Placement Procedure

  • Companies are invited to visit the Institute by the Placement Cell / Companies can contact the Institute's Placement Officer for their requirement.
  • To the responding companies, the details of the final year students opting for placement are sent as per their requirement.
  • The company is assigned a convenient date.
  • After confirmation by the company, a pre-placement talk is arranged on the date.
  • The company conducts test and/or group discussion to short list the interested students.
  • The short listed students are then interviewed for final selection by the company.
  • The result is usually announced on the same day or may be within limited time from the company.

Career Propects and Job Opportunities

Diverse job opportunities are available in front of Diploma in Pharmacy certificate holders. Government and private sector job opportunities are available in front of them. Diploma in Pharmacy certificate holders may start practicing as pharmacists in India. They may work at drug stores in Government hospitals, private hospitals, clinics, community health centres or private drug stores. In such a work setup, they usually check prescriptions (made by the Doctor), dispense drugs to patients, give them advice & directions, keep stock of drugs in storage, keep accounts and maintain the inventory. Other than working for hospitals or private drug stores, D Pharm certificate holders may even start their own private drug store! To thrive in such a venture, one must have access to decent financial resources and entrepreneurship skills. Pharmaceutical companies are also known to hire D Pharm folks. In this sector, they may work at divisions/sections like- manufacturing, process control, quality control and marketing. Talking about marketing sector, one may work for firms involved in pharmaceutical products marketing. One may also work as a medical representative Other than working right after completing D Pharm course, one may also go for further studies (B Pharm, Pharm D, M.Pharm. etc). After completing Master's level course, one may take up the job of a lecturer/tutor/instructor at relevant pharmacy schools or institutes. Completing advanced course like PhD will help one build a career in the R&D (Research and Development) sector associated with the field of pharmacy.
